Consumer expenditure stagnates in Switzerland in November

The Consumer Spending Index (CSI) Switzerland remained practically unchanged (+0.2%) in November 2025 compared to the same month in the previous year. Negative growth rates at the point-of-sale were compensated by a strong increase in E-commerce (+8.3%).

Compared to October 2025, spending growth declined across all categories. This was especially pronounced in Retail: Food, beverage, tobacco (+0.7%), which experienced a large increase in the previous month.

Northwestern (+0.5%) was the only region with a positive yearly growth rate in consumer expenditures in November 2025. This positive growth was in part driven by the point-of-sale expenditures in Accommodation (+3.2%), where all other regions recorded substantial declines.
