Solid consumer expenditure growth in Switzerland in February

The Consumer Spending Index (CSI) Switzerland increased (+1.2%) in February 2026 compared to the same month in the previous year.

High expenditure growth in Retail: Food, beverage, tobacco (+4.6%) more than offset lower spending in the residual category Other (-4.1%). In the further listed categories spending was similar as in the same month in the previous year, i.e., as in February 2025.

Considering regional spending differences, consumer expenditure at the point-of-sale in Lake Geneva (-0.4%) slightly decreased whereas Espace Mittelland (+2.9%) experienced the largest spending growth. Expenditure growth in E-commerce (+2.1%) continued to grow.
